Race 5 - NORTH POINT HANDICAP CLASS 4 (1200M)
The Dennis Yip-trained FIRE BALL (best odds $5 with bet365) is second-up tonight and showed enough when resuming to suggest he is in the mix here. Last start, he came off the season break and took on a Class 4, here over the 1200m and wasn’t disgraced when finishing sixth in the 14-strong field. Box-seating to the turn, he loomed-up on straightening but his condition gave out in the final stages to finish up 3.5 lengths from the winner. He ran the trip, half a length slower than benchmark, the third-best in this line-up. Both career wins have come on this course and distance and he has placed when second-up previously. After the claim, he carries 3kgs less weight tonight and fitter from that first-up hit-out, he should be running on here again.
Race 6 - CAUSEWAY BAY HANDICAP CLASS 3 (1200M)
- Bookmaker Odds Betting Tip
- $15.00 Bet with bet365
Making his Hong Kong debut tonight, the David Hall-trained SOLID IMPACT (best odds $15 with bet365) has shown enough at his two trials since arriving that he is more than just a fair chance of having an impact on the outcome in this contest. Last start, the Sweynesse gelding ended his New Zealand career beating all but one home in the Cambridge Stud Almanzor Trophy at Ellerslie. That was back in January this year. He returned to work last month (September) where he trialled twice on the Sha Tin track, placing second in one of those. Chad Schofield has the reins tonight and taken on trust, the four-year-old looks a solid each-way chance as he sees the Happy Valley track for the first time. He won on debt at Te Rapa (NZ) when he put three lengths on that Maiden field and on fresh legs again here, he may just do that again.
Race 8 - FORTRESS HILL HANDICAP CLASS 3 (1650M)
Unbeaten at Happy Valley, the Frankie Lor-trained EVERYONE’S DELIGHT (best odds $3.25 with bet365) lines-up here fresh off the season break where he ticks every box, making him our Best Bet 🏆 of the night. The El Roca gelding ended his previous campaign with back-to-back victories in Class 3 company on this track. The last of those saw him salute, 2.5 lengths ahead of them over the 1650m trip. He ran the journey, 7.8 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by 2 lengths. Since then, he finished third in a Conghua trial. Tonight, he is ideally drawn in gate two, giving two-time winning jockey Alex Badel options from barrier rise. Already a winner when first-up, he will take some beating tonight.
