Blue Diamond Prelude Tips (Fillies & C&G)
Saturday’s Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) for fillies and colts and geldings will be the final hit-out for most heading toward the Blue Diamond Stakes.
Most have exposed form now and it’s a matter of assessing that form and finding the winner of each event.
Here are our Blue Diamond Prelude Tips:
Race 3 – 1:45PM NEDS BLUE DIAMOND PRELUDE (F) (1100 METRES)
The Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) appears to be the strongest form line going into this race as the winner, A Beautiful Night, went 4.6 lengths quicker than standard BM and recorded a quicker time (0:57.27) than Hanseatic (0:57.48) in the colts and geldings division.
A Beautiful Night led throughout at an even tempo for this class, but she looked vulnerable late as FRESH closed hard off a tough run. Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Fresh is by Fastnet Rock and out of the Savabeel mare Mother’s Milk who was a handy sprinter winning four races from 1200m to 1550m. The 1000m should be too sharp for Fresh and I’d expect her to improve over 1100m and again over 1200m in the main event.
She was caught three deep without cover last start yet still closed off with the equal fastest final 600m of the race. She’s drawn the inside gate on Saturday and won’t be caught wide this time, and with a soft run up on the speed, she’s the one to beat.
Race 4 – 2:20PM NEDS BLUE DIAMOND PRELUDE (C&G) (1100 METRES)
Although HANSEATIC ran slightly slower than the fillies division, I think he’s a class above them all and is a clear top pick on Saturday and then into the Blue Diamond Stakes. Despite sitting four wide throughout and coming five wide on the bend, he ran his final 600m in 33.04 which is 2.5 lengths quicker than the fastest fillies went.
Hanseatic was soft to the line, he’s open to plenty of improvement, and having drawn barrier 2 this time, he should get an ideal run before putting them away in the straight.
