Randwick Tips – January 11
Race 1 – 12:55PM BUSHFIRE APPEAL RACE DAY 25TH JANUARY (1000 METRES)
I have Superium as a knockout chance to Alligator Blood in the Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m), so it makes sense to follow that form line. SPLINTEX was 3rd to Superium when first-up this preparation, and the son of Snitzel then finished 3rd behind Hightail who also lines up in the Guineas. He should be at peak fitness third-up and is likely to go forward as he drops back to 1000m.
Race 3 – 2:05PM BISLEY WORKWEAR HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
TANIKO went into the blackbook after running the quickest final 600m, 400m and 200m of the meeting two starts back, and she then scored second-up running near identical sectionals. Again she ran the quickest 600m and 400m of the meeting, but she had to settle for second best in the final 200m with Pinup Miss going a fraction quicker. Her last start BM figure of 10.4 lengths quicker than BM is the strongest in the race, just in front of Southern Lad who was runner-up to Taniko last start.
Race 4 – 2:40PM JANUARY CUP (2000 METRES)
Luvaluva was ultra-impressive winning last start at this track and trip, but she meets TAIKOMOCHI 3kg worse at the weights and that should be enough to turn the tables. Taikomochi set a good early tempo going 5.8 lengths quicker than BM to the 600m, and being fourth-up, stepping up from the mile following a 1200m barrier trial, he probably didn’t have the fitness to lead all the way at that pace. Strips fitter for the run and represents good value compared to the favourite.
