Echuca Racing Tips 19 Oct 2026: Can Sacred Chord Strike?

Overview

Sacred Chord has won three of its last six starts and finished in the first three in five of them, banking $36,190 in the last 90 days. No horse on Monday’s Echuca card comes close to that run of form, and it meets the Carlton Draught BM56 from barrier 1. That is the cornerstone of our Echuca racing tips.

The rest of the day takes more work. Eight races on a Good track run from 1:30PM to 5:00PM: four maidens to open, then four BM56 handicaps from 2100m down to 1000m. Course form among the runners is thin, so most of the weight here goes on recent form, the riders who know the track, and two stables with a habit of winning at Echuca. Markets were up for the first four races when this was written; the BM56 races had no live prices yet, so treat those as form calls rather than value calls.

Echuca, the setup

Limited course form across today’s fields. Most runners with an Echuca start have one or two here. The exception worth knowing about is Wallaby Jack, with two wins from three visits, while Raging Monkey has placed twice from three and Earthly Crown has yet to place in three tries.

The riding ranks are deeper. Jett Stanley wins a quarter of his Echuca rides and hits the frame in half of them, from 20 starts, and R J Hurdle has won three of nine. Neil Farley has run a place in half of his 22 rides, though he has only won once.

Jockey Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
Patrick Moloney 6 1 4 16.7 66.7
R J Hurdle 9 3 5 33.3 55.6
Neil Farley 22 1 11 4.5 50.0
Jett Stanley 20 5 10 25.0 50.0
M Aitken 21 2 9 9.5 42.9
B Rawiller 19 3 7 15.8 36.8

Among trainers, T & C McEvoy have won with half of their six Echuca runners, and J E & C Ledger have four winners from 16.

Trainer Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
M W Walker 5 2 4 40.0 80.0
T & C Mcevoy 6 3 3 50.0 50.0
Ben, Will & JD Hayes 16 3 7 18.8 43.8
J E & C Ledger 16 4 6 25.0 37.5
Ben Brisbourne 24 1 6 4.2 25.0

Echuca predictions, race by race

Race 1: Hygain Racetorque Mdn Plate, 1:30PM, 1400m

Sihaya has had one start and ran second, and that run was worth $10,800, a solid sum for a maiden placing. Jett Stanley takes the ride, and his Echuca record is the best of the regular riders here. From barrier 8 in a field thinned by five scratchings, Sihaya should be able to find cover without being caught deep.

The obvious danger is Platinum Rush. Four placings from five starts in the last 90 days, and a draw in 2, make Platinum Rush the most reliable horse in the race at finishing in the first three. What it hasn’t done is win, which is why she is $6.50 with Ladbrokes rather than favourite. Interrogate, at $5.25 with Bet Right, has run a place in three of six career starts for the Freedmans.

Sihaya at $2.45 with Bet Right is a win bet. Platinum Rush is the place play.

Race 2: Suzi Luck Memorial Mdn Plate, 2:00PM, 1200m

Who wants to win this? The favourite, Pray For Elegance, is $3.40 with Ladbrokes off a single unplaced start and had no rider listed when this was written. Behind it is a group of horses that keep running into the minor money. Ninetyfiveinafifty has placed in four of its last five, with Lachlan King, but has never won in six starts.

Plinian is the one heading the right way. Unplaced on debut, then second at its next start, and Patrick Moloney has placed in four of his six Echuca rides. Second-up from a first-up placing is a profile that often improves again. At $5.00 with Bet Right, that is fair.

Trouble’n Paradise, $7.00 with Ladbrokes, gets in the mix if Damien Thornton can put it in the race from barrier 17. Small win bet on Plinian, Ninetyfiveinafifty for the place.

Race 3: Moama Bowling Club Mdn Plate, 2:30PM, 1000m

The market has Valentina Girl as a $2.20 chance with Ladbrokes on debut, and that price is mostly about the stable. T & C McEvoy have won with three of their six Echuca runners, so the respect is earned, but a debutante still has to do it first time out.

Truant has already shown it can run. Second at its most recent start, with $5,760 earned in the last 90 days, and the Hayes stable has placed seven of 16 Echuca runners. Damien Thornton takes the ride, and barrier 7 leaves options in a field of nine. At $2.90 with Unibet, Truant is the one with form in the book.

Magnusaurus Rex, $5.50 with Bet Right, rounds out the top three in the market but has finished sixth and fifth. Win bet on Truant, with a small saver on Valentina Girl.

Race 4: Ashwood Football Club Mdn Plate, 3:00PM, 2100m

Two horses dominate the market, and they could hardly be more different. Meet The Prince has had four starts and the form line reads fifth, unplaced, sixth, second: slowly finding its feet, and the second came last time. Musical Journey ran second on debut and then ninth.

At 2100m the experienced horse gets the nod. Neil Farley, who places in half his Echuca rides, gets the ride from barrier 3, which should let him save ground for the long run home. Meet The Prince is $3.40 with Unibet. Musical Journey, $4.20 with Neds, is the danger if the debut run was the true one. Notre Citrouille has five runs on its form line without a top-four finish and is easy to leave out.

Meet The Prince each-way. Under Control, $4.60 with Unibet, has placed on its only Echuca visit but had no rider listed at the time of writing, so check it is running before you bet.

Race 5: Rich River Party Hire (Bm56), 3:30PM, 2100m

Lyttelton has won at Echuca already, from two visits, and has won one of three starts in the last 90 days. R J Hurdle, who has won a third of his rides here, takes the reins, and barrier 3 is ideal for a stayer who wants to sit and wait.

Earthly Crown is the danger on form after a win two starts back, but three Echuca starts without a placing is a mark against it. Phoenician has placed twice from three recent runs without winning. No market yet; Lyttelton is the win bet when prices go up.

Race 6: Border Inn (Bm56), 4:00PM, 1400m

M W Walker has brought five runners to Echuca, won with two and placed with four. Sheanadh carries that stable’s hopes and has two placings from two starts in the last 90 days, one of them a win. Liana Wood has won two of her six rides here.

Burning Sensation is the main threat. A win two runs back and a third last time show it is in form, and B Rawiller has won three Echuca races. Alexander Thegreat won before a break and returns with the most weight in the race, which makes it hard to trust first-up. On The Loose is scratched. Back Sheanadh to win, with Burning Sensation as the exacta partner.

Race 7: Carlton Draught (Bm56), 4:30PM, 1200m

This is the race of the day. Sacred Chord‘s last six starts read second, win, fourth, win, win, second, and that produces five placings from six in the last 90 days. That is a horse in a rich vein of form, and barrier 1 means Shayleigh Ingelse can take the shortest way around and pick a spot.

Scratchings have helped. Sir Basil, This Is The Moment and Manchego, three of the more dangerous horses in the field, are all out. That leaves Here Comes Wozza as the main threat: placed in four of its last five, with a win and two placings from two Echuca visits for J Noonan. Western Lane won on its only start here and True Prophet placed on its only visit.

What separates Sacred Chord is depth of form. One win can be a one-off; three in six runs says the horse keeps finding a way. Back Sacred Chord to win when the market opens, with an exacta saver on Here Comes Wozza.

Race 8: Bet365 Same Race Multi (Bm56), 5:00PM, 1000m

Wallaby Jack has won its last two and owns the best course record on the card: two wins from three Echuca starts. J E & C Ledger and Brittany Button combine again, and from barrier 2 the horse gets every chance to lead or sit just off it over the shortest trip of the day.

Queue Jumper, from the inside gate, has four top-three finishes from its last six, including a win, and could hold the rail. Raging Monkey has placed twice from three here and gets in light. Wallaby Jack is our banker on the card. Win bet, and an obvious multi leg.

Where the money goes

NAP: Sacred Chord (Race 7, 4:30PM). Three wins and five placings from six recent starts, and the inside gate removes most of the ways to lose.

Value: Platinum Rush (Race 1, 1:30PM), $6.50 with Ladbrokes. Four placings from five starts in 90 days and a gate in 2. The market is pricing the lack of a win, not the consistency.

Banker: Wallaby Jack (Race 8, 5:00PM). Two from three at Echuca and two straight wins. The multi leg to finish on.

Each-way: Ninetyfiveinafifty (Race 2, 2:00PM), $5.50 with Unibet. Four placings from its last five; another one is the likely result.

Course angle: J E & C Ledger with Brittany Button. The stable has four Echuca winners from 16, and with Sir Basil scratched, Wallaby Jack carries the stable’s day alone.

If Wallaby Jack makes it three from four at Echuca, the Ledger and Button booking will be the first thing to look for whenever that stable heads to the river.
