Think It Over heads field of 12 in Australian Cup
The Kerry Parker-trained Think It Over is the highest rated horse (116) among 12 Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m) runners on Saturday.
The So You Think gelding reinforced his dislike for Heavy ground last start making it zero placings from four attempts but was game in defeat finishing just 1.4 lengths from Verry Elleegant in the Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m).
A return to firmer ground on Saturday will suit and he’s drawn ideally in gate 4 with regular rider Nash Rawiller in the saddle.
Melbourne Cup (3200m) 3rd placegetter Spanish Mission has drawn wide in gate 10, as has Callsign Mav in barrier 11 having finished just ahead of Spanish Mission last start.
The Peter Young Stakes (1800m) is a proven lead-up race and this year’s winner Cascadian and runner-up Yonkers have drawn well in gates 2 and 5 respectively.
John O’Shea’s three-quarter brother to the mighty Frankel, Maximal, showed promise finishing 2.5 lengths from I’m Thunderstruck in the Golden Eagle (1500m) but will need to lift on his last placing in the Apollo Stakes (1400m) behind Think It Over.
