The puzzle here is simple: do you side with the horse that keeps putting itself in the finish, or the one that might have more improvement than exposed form suggests?
I’m with Here She Is. The formline (4-3-5-4-2) screams “I’m around the mark”, and that’s what you want in maiden racing. She draws gate 8 which isn’t ideal, but Kayla Crowther knows this track well and tends to make good decisions here across a solid set of rides.
The danger is Waterorthecan. He’s a two-year-old taking on older horses, which is always a watchpoint, but he’s also lightly raced and gets gate 1. If he steps cleanly and holds a spot, he can turn this into a tactical 1312m where the wide runners have to spend petrol to get into it.
