BEST BET 🏆 (WIN)  

Race 3 No. 2 ORTEGA – ($3.25)

ORTEGA gets his chance in Race 3. The Michael Kent-trained galloper has had the two runs this time in and was ok when fresh with a 5th in a Saturday race at Caulfield before heading to the Sandown Lakeside circuit and running 3rd behind Refreshing over the 1200m. He led that day on a Heavy track before just being run down late in the piece. The son of Rich Enuff went 2.7 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is more than eight lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. He went 5.4 lengths faster at Caulfield. Back to a country level, he can get the job done here. 

NEXT BEST 🥈 (WIN) 

Race 4 No 13 JAZ TYCOON- ($3.40)

SUNSETS can get the job done in Race 4 after a last start effort that saw him finish runner-up at Sandown on July 26. That came over the 1400m and he settled handy but couldn’t quite knock over Ambassadorial. He produced the fastest 400m-200m split but was run down late. The son of Dundeel comes into this third up and with the fitness, while the step up to the 1600m should suit.
