BEST BET 🏆

Race 6:  No.2  CLIFF HOUSE

The Tim Donnelly-trained CLIFF HOUSE is second-up today and ticks enough boxes to claim he is a real threat to victory here. Last start, the Starcraft gelding resumed off a 12-week spell and caught the eye with a big finish in a Class 5 set weights event, here over 1400m. Held up in the run home, he had to come off heels to make his run and from there chased the (eventual) winner home, taking ground off him in the process as he crossed the line in fifth place, a tick over two lengths from glory. He will only strip fitter today and already a two-time winner when second-up, he is right in the mix in this contest.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3:  No.5  WASHINGTON

Locally-trained by Donna Scott, WASHINGTON is high-flying tis preparation and looks the one to beat in this contest. Last start, the Starspangledbanner gelding came off his maiden win when he beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1400m at Wagga. Looking the winner inside the final 100m, he grabbed late by a swooper and out-bobbed on the line, having to settle for second prize that day. He meets similar company here and is back on home soil today with a new rider as Blaike McDougall takes the reins for this assignment. At peak fitness for this, he should be there at the finish today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.8  ASGARDA

Doug Gorrel saddles-up ASGARDA here who picked up where he left off last time in and looks the testing material in this contest. Last start, the four-year-old mare came off a first-up win in Class 4 company when stepped-up in grade and did well to beat all but one home, here over 1400m. Dropping back in distance today shouldn’t be an issue having already won twice over the trip previously. Kayla Nisbet boasts a very strong success rate with the mare, with three wins and as many runner-up finishes from her seven previous rides and is again in charge today. Ideally drawn in gate three today, she strips fitter after two runs back and should prove hard to hold out here.
