Ballarat Tips 7/3/2023

Race 3 No. 1  HIMEROS- ($2.60)

HIMEROS can get the job done in Race 3 after a last start effort that saw him finish runner-up at Pakenham over the 1600m on February 23. On that occasion, the Michael Huglin-trained galloper settled handy and couldn’t quite reel in Terrestar in the concluding stages. He was solid on debut at Geelong over the 1412m prior to that in a race that has provided a couple of winners. The son of Savabeel draws perfectly in barrier 4 and won’t be far from the leaders in the run, while Damian Lane sticks on board.

Race 7 No. 7  POWER OF SONG – ($5)

POWER OF SONG can go close in Race 7. The Symon Wilde-trained galloper has had three runs this time in and hasn’t been far away in those, coming 6th at her latest assignment at Warrnambool over the 1700m, beaten just over two lengths. She drops back to the 1400m and was solid at her run prior at Terang over the distance. The daughter of Your Song doesn’t mind the Ballarat track and was solid at this stage of her previous preparation. A firmer in the early betting, she looks ready to deliver.

Race 8 No. 5 BLACK ORLOV – ($4)

BLACK ORLOV might be worth a play in the final race of the day at Ballarat. The four-year-old resumes and was a first up winner at her last preparation at Moe, coming from off the speed to win by nearly four lengths from Miss Mouse. She was then a solid 3rd at BenchMark 78 level before a luckless run at Flemington when dropping out of it over the 1400m. The daughter of Pride Of Dubai has been supported in the early betting and should be ready to go.
