Race 6 No. 8 WHISTLEFIELD ($2.50)

WHISTLEFIELD should be hard to beat in Race 6. The Tom Dabernig-trained galloper has had just the four career starts and resumed at Bendigo on February 11, running 3rd behind Aminatu. He settled well back that day over the 1100m and came out very wide before running on strongly to finish within a length of the winner. Second up at his last preparation, he was able to score. The 3kg claimer, Jake Weatherley, rides and has won five of 16 for the stable, providing a 195% profit on turnover.

Race 3 No. 10 CROSSOVERKID ($2.95)

Giving CROSSOVERKID another chance. We were keen on him at Caulfield on February 3 in a BenchMark 70 and he wasn’t able to deliver over the 1800m that day, although he did well to land within three lengths of the winner after being held up in the straight. The Andrew Payne-trained galloper looked good prior to that at Flemington when a narrow runner-up behind Bold Soul over the 2000m. He looks like he wants the extra distance and he saves plenty of ground from barrier 1.
