BEST BET 🏆
Race 2: No.7 WANDA ROX ($2.80 with bet365)
The Lindsay Hatch-trained WANDA ROX resumes today after 20 weeks off the scene and unbeaten in two starts, will take beating here on fresh legs. Last start, the Wandjina filly ended her last (two-start) preparation with an impressive win in a BM60 over 1100m at Toowoomba. She ran that out, 5.3 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this field, while recording the fastest final 200m sectional for the race as well. She has trialled since, finishing second over the 650m run. Cody Collis steered the filly to her maiden win on debut and is back for today’s assignment. She draws the outside gate (8) but the speed map suggests she will cross behind the early pace and be sitting mid-field on settling. She won on debut so a first-up victory is on the cards today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 1: No.4 MALLEE BOY EXPRESS ($3.30 with BlueBet)
Donna Grisedale saddles-up MALLEE BOY EXPRESS here who is shooting for back-to-back wins today. Last start the Eurozone gelding left the barriers for the 19TH time and finally shook off the maiden monkey, recording his first career-win whilst having his first start for the Grisedale stable. Luke Rolls was aboard that day as the six-year-old was sent to the gates a $2.40 race-favourite and didn’t disappoint his backers when he clobbered his rivals that day, putting three lengths on them in the 1308m event at Taree. He ran the trip out, 7 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort here by 4.5 lengths. He also posted the fastest 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. Grisedale’s husband Jon has the reins today and now in career-best form, the galloper looks well placed here to make it two in a row.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5: No.1 INTROVERT ($4.60 with Ladbrokes)
The Matt Dunn-trained INTROVERT has improved with every start this time in and looks set for back-to-back wins today. Last start, the So You Think gelding led them a merry dance from the outset and was untroubled in the run home, putting 2.5 lengths on them over the line and bring up his first win in a Class 1/Maiden, here over 1910m. On a Heavy 9 that day, he also posted the fastest final 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. He faces the same conditions today against similar company but has Ash Morgan returning for the ride. He looks the one to run down again.
