BEST BET 🏆
Race 6: No.7 IMMORAL ($2.40 with bet365)
City trainer Tony Gollan has just two runners engaged today with IMMORAL flying the stable flag here and third-up, looks a genuine contender in this line-up. Last start, the Deep Field gelding made it back-to-back podium finishes when he took home third prize in a BM58 Hcp over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast, beaten a length on the line. James Orman returns for this assignment, boasting three top-three finishes from four previous rides. From gate seven, its possible he will settle mid-field or better today and hopefully secure a sit with cover. His best results have come on top of the ground so the forecast Good 4 today can only enhance his chances. Fitter for two runs back, he looks a serious player in this contest.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.6 JEMELDI ($3.80 with bet365)
The training partnership of Ryan Tyrell & Tom Button have JEMELDI resuming today and are confident the three-year-old can make an impression on fresh legs. Last start, the Winning Rupert gelding ended a disappointing campaign when beating just one runner home in a Magic Millions qualifying race at the Gold Coast, ending all hopes of a MM start. The stable then put him out but he returned to work last month and since then has won both trials he has contested with stable apprentice Gabrielle Semmens aboard. Boasting a 4kg claim today, Semmens has her first (race) ride on the galloper and from gate six, maps to be on-speed. Already a winner when first-up, if he enjoys a trouble-free run here, he can upset the odds-on favourite (Invincible Courage) today and take home the biscuits.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7: No.2 OUR CASTAWAY ($5 with Ladbrokes)
Gold Coast galloper OUR CASTAWAY is a proven consistent performer boasting six podium finishes from his seven starts to date and looks well placed here in easier company to rack-up another top finish. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding came off an eight-week freshen-up and having his first look at this track, did well when second-up to finish third in a BM65 Hcp over the 1400m trip. He was never on the track that day, travelling three-deep without cover. It’s a bigger field today giving Jag Guthmann-Chester more options and opportunities to find cover from gate nine. Fitter for two runs back now, he can play a leading role in the outcome of this contest.
