Belmont 26/07/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 1 No. 2 DIAMOND COMMAND ($3.30)

The barrier draw hasn’t fallen to the favour of DIAMOND COMMAND in the opener from Belmont Racecourse on Wednesday. Not sure how Brad Parnham plays this through the early stages and there does appear to be some pace drawn back to his inside. Whatever happens, we do expect the small field to pack at some stage. The filly jumped well for him as usual last start which enabled Parnham to find the one/one behind the leader. Diamond Oasis let down strongly into the straight and gave nothing else a chance. Stays to trip and we’ll stick to following Diamond Command in a tricky race.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4 No. 2 ROCKARIA ($4.50)

Should think there’s a bit of betting to go with the fourth race where ROCKARIA could end-up in a good spot in running. We do expect his price to drift a shade towards a genuine each-way quote against some returning speedsters. Rockaria jumped sharply to lead when resuming over this track and trip last start. He set a fast tempo under Brayden Gaerth who retains the ride for Wednesday. Rockaria battled deep into the straight before succumbing to Crystal Vain and Symphony In Red who proved too strong late. The speed crossing over from War Hymn and Deep Point may see Rockaria take a trail, and he’s the horse with some upside coming into this race.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5 No. 4 IMPRUDENT ($7)

Victoria Corver comes back aboard IMPRUDENT after riding him first-up for Bunbury trainer Brent Larsson. Corver gave Imprudent a nice ride from the back of midfield and the pair tracked into the race with the winner. Colossal found too much for them nearing the line with Imprudent forging ahead of the others over this track and trip. William Pike took the mount in town where Imprudent was given a quiet ride out the back. Olga Louise set a quick tempo in front to go all the way and score. Imprudent was finishing hard with the runner-up Premium Choice to miss out on the placings. Imprudent has drawn for a good run behind the speed again with this opposition perhaps not as strong as the past couple he has met.
