Race 5 No. 3 ARTERO – ($5.50)

ARTERO shapes as our Best Bet and comes up in Race 5. The newcomer to the Anthony and Sam Freedman stable recently stepped out for his first run for the training combination and was ok from a long way back when 5th over the 1412m behind Attrition at Geelong. He was a noted improved second up last time on benchmark figures and showed talent earlier in his career with two wins. This looks to be a suitable assignment for the four-year-old and he saves ground from barrier 1 with John Allen in the saddle.

Race 1 No. 3 SHE PLAYS GAMES – ($14)

SHE PLAYS GAMES is worth a play at the each-way quote in the opener at Benalla. The three-year-old has had just the one career start and that came at the track on January 29, finishing 3rd behind Orange Ears over the 1106m. She settled handy and looked a great chance at the 200m but just peaked on her run late. Not a bad effort given she was on debut and she has the benefit of experience at the track. Worth noting that she went 1.9 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is better than what any of the raced runners have produced in their careers.
