Race 6 No. 4 FAST MELODY ($9) 

FAST MELODY is worth thought in Race 6. The seven-year-old returned from a six-week let up at Hamilton on January 12 over the 1400m and settled last in the field of nine before running on four 4th behind Sevillana. A firmer in the early betting, the son of Sebring went four lengths slower than standard that day, which are the best last start figures of any runner. He draws to save ground from barrier 2 for this assignment.

Race 2 No.6  FAKHRA ($16.20) 

FAKHRA shapes as a sneaky each-way chance in Race 2 at Benalla. The Chris Waller import wasn’t quite up to the task at her first local run with that coming at Sandown on January 10 over the 1300m. The four-year-old tucked into a midfield spot and just lacked the dash at the business end, whacking away into 7th position, beaten over four lengths. This looks easier and she does come in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner, while two horses from that race have since gone on to win.
