Bendigo Tips 21/03/2024

Multi Anchor ⚓

Race 3 No. 4 VAIL MOUNTAIN- ($1.55)

VAIL MOUNTAIN gets his chance in Race 3. The Team Hayes-trained galloper has placed in all three of his career starts with those coming at Pakehnam and Sandown. He raced over the 1400m at the Hillside circuit on February 28 and led before just going down in the last 50m behind Umetini. The son of Flying Artie went 2.4 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner. He is the likely leader in a race that lacks pressure up front and is the one they have to get past.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 No.4 RUSSIAN FRONT- ($2.10)

Bit of a non-winner but RUSSIAN FRONT should be hard to beat in Race 5. The four-year-old has placed in four of his past five starts and hit the lead with 100m to go at Sandown over the 1300m on March 6 before just being run down in the shadows of the post. He performed well in some solid form races prior to that and went a healthy 5.5 lengths faster than standard benchmark last time, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has set. Unlike other runs this time in, the son of Russian Revolution draws perfectly in barrier 3.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6 No. 7 MILETUS- ($7)

MILETUS is worth thought in Race 6. The six-year-old was tried over longer trips earlier this preparation with some mixed results before stepping out over the 1700m at Warrnambool on March 12 off a six-week break and running 5th behind The Big Kahuna in a BenchMark 64. That form should hold up well for this and he was a runner-up in a BM64 the last time he raced at the track and trip, which was last November. The Jamie Edwards-trained galloper comes back to BM58 and will settle towards the front in a race where there is not much pressure.
