BEST BET 🏆

Race 4:  No.6  KING’S HALO

The Steve Massingham-trained KING’S HALO is three starts into this campaign and drawing a decent gate today could see him bring up his second career-win. Last start, the Better Than Ready gelding was caught wide most of the way but still finished well enough to figure in a three-way photo, ending up with third prize, beaten a neck in the end. The barrier Gods have been kind to him today as he gets the gun-run from gate one. Ryan Wiggins makes the trip north from Brisbane for some work and is the pilot for this contest. He maps to settle near the speed and on home soil, looks the one to beat.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.7  COUNTER COMMAND

The Team Rowe-trained COUNTER COMMAND is three starts into this preparation and looks well placed here to bring up home-track win number two today. Last start, the Counter Attack gelding just missed a podium finish when he took home fourth prize in a Class 3 over 1400m at Townsville. Back on home soil today, Lacey Morrison retains the ride and despite a wide draw, still maps to settle near mid-field. Already a winner over the trip and a winner when fourth-up last preparation, he can get the job done here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 3:  No.4  PUSS BOOTS

The Roy Chillemi-trained PUSS BOOTS is third-up today and with ‘Lethal’ Lacey Morrison aboard for the first time, looks set to give this contest a real shake. Last start, the Jungle Cat filly was second-up and showed plenty of improvement to beat all but one home in a Three-Year-Old Open Hcp, here over 950m with Jason Taylor on board. She will get the gun-run today from gate one where she maps to box-seat behind the speed. Fitter for those two runs and already a track and distance winner, the Morrison magic could be the difference today.
