BEST BET 🏆   

Race 6 No. 2 STEPARTY ($3.20) 

Nice race with some quality three-year-olds in action. STEPARTY sprinted well fresh at his spring campaign and comes into this first up after running 3rd in the Caulfield Guineas (1600m) back in October. The Paul Preusker-trained galloper has won five of six and was solid at Moonee Valley over the 1200m first up last time to defeat Scantily and Brave Mead before winning over the 1400m at Caulfield. John Allen rides and will look to slot in near the speed from barrier 7.

Race 6 No. 5 YONCE ($5.50) 

Willing to roll the dice on YONCE in Race 7. The classy mare from the Maher/Eustace camp returned off a long break at Caulfield when first up over the unsuitable 1100m on Boxing Day and did enough behind Sghirripa, running 8th behind the subsequent Standish Handicap (1200m) winner. She was back and they went slowly early on but she ran her last 400m in 23 seconds on the Soft deck. 1400m suits much better and the winner of six of eight career starts will strip fitter.

Race 8 No. 7 FORTUNATE KISS ($7) 

FORTUNATE KISS shapes as an each-way player in the final event of the day at Caulfield. The Daniel Bowman-trained galloper has had three runs this time in for a win first up at Bendigo before struggling at Caulfield. She headed to Moonee Valley after that and with six weeks in between runs she was excellent when producing the fastest last 200m to run 4th behind Pink Beau Ty. Record is moderate at the 1400m but some of those have been in harder races than this and liked the way she closed off last time.
