He had 60kgs to carry that day and was on a Good 4 as well. The 1300m has been good to him with a win and three minor placings coming from four starts over the trip. Braith Nock returns for his second ride on the four-year-old where he gets the gun-run today from gate one. He maps to lead here but could take a sit in the 14-strong field. At his peak after five starts this preparation, a trouble-free run today will see him hard to beat.

Race 4:  No.5  PIXIE HALLOW  ($6.50 with Palmerbet)

Locally-trained by Jim Jarvis, PIXIE HALLOW is high-flying after three runs back this preparation and ticks all boxes to suggest she is a major in this contest. Last start, the Cable Bay mare dropped back in grade where she clobbered her rivals in a BM58, here over 1012m. Lumping 60.5kgs that day, she led from barrier to box and crossed the line 2.5 lengths ahead of them. Noriyuki Masuda steered her home and has ridden her to all three career wins as he sticks with her for this assignment. Down in weight, but up in grade, she may have to do a little early work to cross from gate seven but still maps to settle in the first half dozen. At her peak after three-straight podium finishes this time in, she can figure here at odds.

The Donna Grisedale-trained POWDER MAN is second-up off a 15-week break today and looks well placed here to give this contest a real shake at odds. Last start, the Smart Missile gelding came from last on the turn to finish just behind the placegetters in a Class 1 Hcp over 1010m at Ballina. Courtney Bellamy was aboard for her first ride on the four-year-old that day and has the job again for this assignment. He is already a winner when second-up and is back on home soil today. He will strip fitter for that first-up run and the 1200m today looks ideal. He has flying under the radar a little in the past as his resume shows he has found the podium eight times from his 11 career starts to date, so an each-way ticket on him looks the go here.
