Cranbourne Tips 05/04/2024

BEST BET 🏆

Race 3 No. 4 DRIFT NET- ($2.60)

DRIFT NET can finally break the Maiden tag when she steps out in Race 3. The Godolphin galloper has placed in four of her five starts and resumed at Kyneton on March 7 over the 1225m, finishing runner-up behind War Machine. She was gunned down late in that run and the winner has since come out and claimed a Class 1 at Cranbourne by five lengths. Drift Net went 1.9 lengths slower than standard benchmark at Kyneton, which is 2.5 lengths better than the next best last start figure of any runner. The daughter of Exceed And Excel will strip fitter for this and draws to box seat from barrier 1.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 No.4 BON MISTRESS – ($4.20)

BON MISTRESS can be an improver in Race 5. The locally trained filly resumed in a BenchMark 64 at Sandown on March 20 over the 1300m and was posted three deep with no cover before fading late to run 7th behind Lady In Pink, beaten four lengths. This is easier and it is worth noting that the daughter of Bon Hoffa went 1.3 lengths faster than standard at Sandown, which is seven lengths better than the next best last start figures of any other contender in this race. She improved nearly four lengths on figures at her second run last time before scoring at Geelong when stepping up in trip. Dan Stackhouse rides and provides a 19% profit on turnover when combining with the stable.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7 No. 4 CLAVADATSCH- ($5)

CLAVADATSCH is another on the Cranbourne card that can be an improver at her second run this time in, despite finishing as far back as 9th when resuming at Sandown over the 1400. The Anthony & Sam Freedman filly went way too hard out in front that day in a race where the form has held up with two winners coming out of it. The daughter of Justify drops back to the 1300m and was a winner at the trip two starts ago.
