Race 4:  No.3  CHINNY BOOM 

The Clinton Taylor-trained CHINNY BOOM is on fire this time in and looks poised for another victory in this contest. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom mare was fourth-up and full of vinegar when she recorded her second win this preparation by taking out a Fillies & Mares Open event over 1100m at the Gold Coast. The Nth Qld mare has barely put a foot wrong since hitting the track and has a resume that boasts eights wins from her 13 starts to date. The small field here offsets her outside gate draw as she welcomes boom apprentice Cejay Graham as she is legged aboard for the first time. She is yet to win over 1200m but in her current frame of mind, it can happen here.

Race 6:  No.7  XTRAVAGANT STAR

Ciaron Maher saddles-up XTRAVAGANT STAR here who makes her Doomben debut here and third-up, looks right in the mix for another win. Last start, she took on the big-guns in the Group 3 Birthday Card Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill and wasn’t disgraced, finishing mid-field, beaten less than four lengths in the event. This is a big drop in class for her as the very experienced Ryan Maloney takes the reins for the first time. From gate three, the Xtravagant mare maps to settle in the first half-dozen and fitter for two runs back, should prove hard to hold out in this contest.

Race 9:  No.12  ARGYLE PINK

The Tony Gollan-trained ARGYLE PINK is second-up here and ticks all the boxes that suggest she can give this race a real shake. Last start, the Star Witness mare returned with a bang when first-up off a lengthy 19-week break, she held off all the challenges to take home first prize in a BM68 over 1200m at Eagle Farm at double-figure odds ($19). With regular rider Angela Jones aboard, she sat outside the leader most of the way and just finishes too strong for the field of 12 on the day. She achieved that carrying 59kgs and jumping from the outside gate (12). An impressive effort to say the least. Jones sticks with her here as she jumps from gate four and already a winner when second-up and a two-time winner at Doomben, she lines-up here at great value and is well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
