Chris Waller saddles-up DEMARCAY here who is four starts into this campaign and has conditions to suit for him to bring up win number two today. Last start, the Postponed gelding came across his first wet track this time in and showed enough improvement to beat all but one home in a BM65 over 1800m at Eagle Farm with James Orman aboard. Wet tracks seem to be his preferred surface as his resume shows seven starts for a win and three runner-up finishes in the conditions. Well, he has a Heavy 8 to enjoy today as Orman sticks with him for the event. He also does no early work from gate one where he maps to settle a couple of pairs off the speed. His only career-win to date was over the 2000m trip and with a trouble-free run here, he looks every chance of making his Doomben debut a winning one.

Race 6:  No.4  TUHINGA  ($5 with Picklebet)

Toowoomba galloper, TUHINGA is in great touch this preparation boasting five podium finishes to date and looks well placed in the wet conditions today to give this contest a real crack. Last start, the Epaulette gelding came off two tough BM70 events at Eagle Farm when he returned home and bounced back in BM65 company, saluting by a length in the mile contest. He settled mid-field and carrying 60kgs, did well to beat home the 11-strong field that day. Georgina Cartwright has a glowing record with the five-year-old, boasting a win and three minor placings from her five rides to date as she returns to take the reins for this assignment. He is a two-time winner on heavy tracks and placed here previously, can figure in the finish today.

Race 3:  No.10  FIRE LOVE  ($8.10 with BoomBet)

The Gillian Heinrich-trained FIRE LOVE is second-up here and is capable of giving this contest a real shake today. Last start, the Deep Field mare resumed from a five-month break when she beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast. She travelled three-wide without cover for most of the trip so her efforts were commendable on the day. Apprentice, Casey-Mae Waddell was aboard for that run and sticks with her here and after her claim, the mare carries 1kg under the limit for this contest. Placed twice in two previous second-up appearances and boasting similar stats for her Doomben record, a trouble-free run today can see her figuring in the finish.
