BEST BET 🏆

Race 4:  No.5  DEEP ROUGE  ($4.80 with Bet Right)

The Barry Lockwood-trained DEEP ROUGE has run herself into form recently and she looks poised for back-to-back victories here. Last start, the Deep Field mare brought up her first win in five starts at the track when she accounted for a BM68 Hcp over 1110m. She drew wide in barrier eight (of 11) and was trapped deep most of the way but still had enough to take home the major prize, winning by more than a length on the line. Mark Du Plessis steered her to that victory and remains on board for today’s assignment. Now a track and distance winner, she draws even better today in gate four and with a clear run to the line, she can make it two-straight here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.1  BOODUA ROMANCE  ($4.40 with Unibet)

Lindsay Gough saddles-up BOODUA ROMANCE here and second-up today looks in the mix for a shot at first prize here. Last start, the Love Conquers All gelding was fresh off a lengthy 22-week break when he beat all but one home in a BM58 Hcp over 1010m at Ballina. He finished strongly that day but his lack of race fitness prevented him from reeling in the race-leader, beaten a long neck across the line. Placed second-up last preparation, the four-year-old has had just four career starts to date but looks a serious contender in this contest.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.16  NEGATION  ($5 with Ladbrokes)

Goulburn galloper NEGATION has her second look at the Doomben track today and at the weights, she looks a serious contestant in this event. Last start, the Hellbent filly was third-up when she made the podium for the second time this preparation, finishing a close-up third in a Class 1 Hcp for fillies and mares over the 1350m trip. Drawn out that day, Angela Jones rode her a treat and did well to get her to the line and finish withing half a length of the major prize. Jones sticks with her today and should appreciate the better draw in gate three. The three-year-old should be nearing her peak with three runs behind her now and looks a genuine winning chance today.
