Race 6:  No.3  THIS’LLBETHEONE

Having his second start for the Jack Bruce camp today, THIS’LLBETHEONE is second-up here and is well placed for a bold showing. Formerly with the John O’Shea group, the Exceed And Excel gelding wasn’t disgraced when he made his QLD debut last start. Fresh off a six-month absence, he finished unplaced in a strong Class 5 Hcp, here over the 1350m trip, beaten just 2.5 lengths that day. James Orman has been booked for today’s assignment where the five-year-old gets all the favours from gate one. He is already a two-time winner when second-up so we can expect improvement today. A trouble-free run here should see him in thick of things at the business end of proceedings.

Race 8:  No.11  BANANA SLIDE

David Vandyke saddles-up BANANA SLIDE here who resumes after more than eight months off the scene but is capable of figuring here. Last preparation, the Sebring mare had just three starts and after finding the podium in her first two runs, ended the campaign finishing fifth in the Group 3 Winx Guineas (1600m) at the Sunshine Coast. While not disgraced that day, the mile trip proved to be just a little too far for her at that stage. She has trialled twice since returning to work and placed in both. She won her maiden when first-up last time in which was over today’s trip. Kyle Wilson-Taylor jumps aboard for this assignment and with a trouble-free run, looks a solid chance of figuring here at odds.

Race 7:  No.9  LE HEROS

The Paul Duncan-trained LE HEROS is fourth-up today and at the weights, could give us a good run for our money in this contest. Last start, the Kermadec gelding showed enough improvement to grab third prize in a BM68, here over 1660m with Casey Waddell aboard for the first time. A known front-runner, the six-year-old has drawn the outside gate today and with plenty of early speed drawn in here, it could force him to cross and take a sit. Waddell sticks with him and after the claim, the gelding carries 4.5kgs less than last start which should negate the wide draw. The stable have made some gear changes today by fitting a tongue tie for the first time and swapping winkers for the blinkers again. He is already a winner at the track and a winner when fourth-up last preparation. Despite firming from his overnight quote of $21, he still looks a tad overs at (currently) $15 and is well worth an each-way ticket here.
