BEST BET 🏆

Race 4:  No.10  IVERSON

The six-year-old IVERSON has finished top-two in all three starts for the Robert Heathcote stable this preparation and looks ideally placed here to keep that record intact. Last start, the So You Think gelding took on Class 6 company, here over the mile trip and gave them a galloping lesson, putting 2.5 lengths on the 13-strong field that day. Ridden a treat by Bailey Wheeler, he settled two pairs back (on the fence) and peeling off heels on the turn, found clean air quickly and raced away for the simplest of wins. Now a track and distance winner, he looks to have this lot covered at the weights and is capable of going back-to-back here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7:  No.4  MILLANE

Tony Gollan and James Orman team-up again here with MILLANE who is four starts into this campaign and looks well placed to give this contest a real shake. Last start, the Zoustar gelding was a touch unlucky when he arrived a whisker too late and had to settle for second prize behind Bubba’s Bay in a Class 6 Hcp, here over the 1200m trip. Similar tactics may be applied here as he draws wide again here. At his peak now, and already a track and distance winner, he can give this a real shake.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 2:  No.8  RED WAVE

The Team Sears-trained RED WAVE has improved at each start this time in and now looks ready to pounce. Last start, the Red Dazzler gelding was third-up and did a mighty job to finish second in Open company, here over 1820m. From gate 10 of 11, he was trapped wide most of the way and was beaten in a photo on the line with Robbie Dolan aboard. Drawn wide again here, a lot will depend on where Dolan can settle him but fitter for those three runs back, he meets them nicely at the weights, dropping 1kg from his last-start effort. If he can settle closer to the fence here, he should prove hard to beat in this contest.
