Gawler Tips 25/04/2023
BEST BET 🏆
Race 4 No. 6 YEELANNA – ($9.50)
YEELANNA hadn’t shown much of a first-up record on paper; however, we did like her recent jump out efforts. She had shown herself to be more forward than usual which had us backing her first-up. There was less pressure than expected for a 900m Murray Bridge event as Lancelotto got away with it in front. Yeelanna bounced to put herself behind that speed and went to the line okay behind the winner. Can turn the tables over this trip at Gawler in a race where Lancelotto appears to get another comfortable lead. Teagan Voorham has since given Yeelanna an easy time at the trials. The mare finished well for her and won’t be far away in the run here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6 No. 9 FLIGHT DECK – ($4.20)
There’s plenty of speed coupled with good pressure in the staying race which will ensure all horses get their chance. FLIGHT DECK raced as a coming winner when settling back over 1800 metres at Murray Bridge. Lachlan Neindorf brought him with his run up the straight to finish third in a good Benchmark 62 race. Gordon Richards & Damien Moyle then found a race back in grade for him over 1900 metres at Oakbank. Neindorf again settled Flight Deck towards the back of midfield where they raced three wide with cover. Flight Deck raced keenly off that slow tempo and had also been inclined to hang on the tight downhill turn. Lachie probably hit the front sooner than he would have liked, though it mattered little as they got the job done. Flight Deck can improve further with a smother off the good tempo while racing on a flat deck.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 1 No. 2 LADY TUCAN – ($19.20)
We’ll pick on the first as a thin race in which we can find our Value Bet with LADY TUCAN. Morphettville trainer Peter Jolly owns this horse who he sent up north with Heather Lehmann for her debut prep. Jolly tends to know which horses to take up there and this one impressed at maiden level. Dirt track racing may have been against lady Tucan as she needs to be left alone early. Wasn’t asked for anything as she came away with a trial win in slow time. The work was enough to show that she’s come back healthy, and lady Tucan may give these a fright late.
