Geraldton Tips 27/03/2024

BEST BET 🏆

Race 4 No. 4 WELL PLAYED ($3.30)

In-form apprentice Rosie Mahony found a more prominent position for WELL PLAYED as local trainer Albert Bowtell stepped his mare out to the mile last time. She settled right on the speed to keep the leader out in a fast-run race with Well Played skipping away into the straight. The pair opened a winning break on their opposition who could make no impression on the margin. Well Played is now shooting for a hat-trick of wins at home with that win following a well-timed ride by Austin Gulati to get the cash over twelve-furlongs. Drawn out with some speed back to her inside, we’ll look for another positive ride from Mahony as Well Played comes back to 1413 metres on Wednesday.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3 No. 3 DAIYAMONDO ($4.85)

Consistent galloper DAIYAMONDO must be considered as a chance to be amongst the finish again. The filly won her maiden over the mile here three starts ago when settling just off the pace under Lisa Staples. She then went back to near the tail as Staples eased to get in from their wide gate. Daiyamondo seemingly looked the winner deep inside the 100m as she swept past the field to hit the front before Miff Muffered Moof claimed her in the shadows of the line. Finished strongly from a similar wide gate to nic second from Wednesdays rival Sparkle Corner who over raced in the run after settling back in the field over the 1200m. Rail moves out five metres from the true which could suit Daiyamondo should she settle closer from a kind draw under Kristo Sardelic on Wednesday.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6 No. 1 THREE SESSIONS ($26)

Barry Newnham has chosen not to claim on proven weight carrier THREE SESSIONS as the horse comes down in grade. Peta Edwards reunites with the horse she has won four races on after Three Sessions suffered abrasions during the race when she rode him two starts back. He wasn’t beaten far in his first two runs back from a break before that would benefit from this drop in grade. The pair have drawn to find a kind run behind the speed where Edwards will be looking to get rolling with the weight for a top three finish.
