Race 5:  No.3  ZENNZELLA  ($3.80 with bet365)

Almost a Melbourne Cup-sized field to face the starter here and although drawn out, the Maher & Eustace-trained ZENNZELLA brings strong form into this contest and will still take beating. Last start, the Snitzel mare was second-up and impressed when she came from behind to take out the Listed Lord Stakes over 1700m at Caulfield with Jamie Kah aboard. The four-year-old won third-up last preparation and with Kah crossing two borders to ride here, she looks the testing material in this event.

Race 8:  No.2  SPYWIRE  ($6.75 with Bet Right)

The Maher & Eustace-trained SPYWIRE turned plenty of heads at his dress rehearsal for this event last week and he can go on and make it back-to-back victories for his connections. Last start, the Trapeze Artist colt couldn’t have been any more impressive as he clobbered his rivals in the Colts & Geldings Gold Nugget, here over 1100m. Craig Williams rode him a treat as he led from barrier to box, staving off a mid-race challenge by two others. On straightening, her quickly put three lengths on them and hands & heels by Williams, he crossed the line more than two lengths ahead, eased near the post. That was a perfect trial for the big one here as James McDonald takes the reins for this assignment. While Storm Boy and Arabian Summer look the best of the rest, Spywire appears to have peaked at the right time and will take beating.

Race 11:  No.13  JUNQUEIRA  ($8.50 with bet365)

The John O’Shea-trained JUNQUEIRA is unbeaten on this track and looks well placed here to keep that record intact in this contest. Last start, the Capitalist mare came off three unplaced runs when she turned it all around and clobbered a Class 4 field, here over 1300m last Saturday. Getting the split soon after straightening, Craig Williams drove her to the lead and she just left them in her wake, crossing the line two lengths clear with plenty to spare. The short back-up (of seven days) here should be an advantage, striking while the iron is hot as Williams remains in the saddle. Ideally drawn in gate two, she looks to avoid any trouble and looks right in the mix at good odds here.
