BEST BET 🏆

Race 9:  No.2  COLOURFUL EMPEROR

The Tony Cruz-trained COLOURFUL EMPEROR is yet another who seeks a winning hat-trick on the program and waving a glowing resume and ticking all the boxes here, he looks the best of the night. Last start, the Holy Roman Emperor gelding made it back-to-back victories when he beat home a Class 3 field, here over 1200m. Carrying 3kgs more than the start prior, he ran the same trip even faster, breaking the 1:10 barrier as he posted 1:09.9 that night. Angus Chung sticks with him here and after his claim, the four-year-old carries less weight tonight. Ideally drawn in gate three, He maps to settle just behind the speed and with a clear run to the line, he should prove hard to run down again.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3:  No.2  MR ASCENDENCY

The Ricky Yiu-trained MR ASCENDENCY has found his mojo this time in and looks every chance here of bringing up the hat-trick tonight. Last start, the Irish-sired gelding made it back-to-back wins across the two tracks when he came off a Class 1 victory at Happy Valley then franked that effort by taking out a Class 2 Hcp at Sha Tin. Both events were over the 1650m trip with Harry Bentley in the saddle. Its back to ‘the Valley’ tonight where he meets similar company over the same trip. He’ll do no early work from gate four and in his regular fashion, drop back to take a sit, near mid-field with cover. Bentley has the reins again and with a trouble-free run in the small field, the six-year-old looks well placed for a third-straight win tonight.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8:  No.5  SHOW RESPECT

Mark Newnham saddles-up SHOW RESPECT here who ticks all the boxes that suggest he is a genuine chance of making it three-in-a-row tonight. Last start, the Showcasing gelding came off a Class 4 win on this track when he stepped-up to Class 3 company and repeated the dose over the same track and trip. Harry Bentley was aboard on both occasions and pilots the ship again in this contest. Ideally drawn in gate two, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen and already a two-time winner here over the mile trip, he take beating again tonight.
