BEST BET 🏆
Race 5 No. 5 BORN TO SHINE- ($2.20)
BORN TO SHINE should just about be ready to strike at her fourth career start. The Tom Dabernig filly has had two runs this time in and had a few things go against when resuming with a 7th at Terang before heading to Geelong and landing in the runner-up slot over the 1330m behind Binotto. The daughter of Grunt led that day before going down in the last 100m, while she enjoyed a decent gap over the 3rd horse, going two lengths slower than standard, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced. She strikes a track on the Soft/Heavy for the first time but draws to get the favours from barrier 3 with Jordan Childs to ride.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 8 No.10 FIFTYSEVENYEARS- ($8)
FIFTYSEVENYEARS can be an improver in the final race of the day. The four-year-old was a bit playing when resuming over the 1540m at Geelong, finishing 5th behind Etara and well beaten. But the Liam Howley-trained gelding has had two second up runs for a win at Geelong last year before improving a couple of lengths on benchmark figures to place at Yarra Valley earlier this year. The son of Street Boss gets back out to the 1800m and produced a career peak by going three lengths faster than standard the last time he raced over the trip, with that yielding a 6th placing behind the subsequent Group 1 winner, Affaire Au Suivre, in the Port Adelaide Guineas (1800m) last year. That came on a Soft track. The blinkers go back on.
