Race 6 No. 2 WINDS OF MARCH ($2.40) 

WINDS OF MARCH has been an improver stepping up in distance and can just about go on with the job in Race 6 after a last start effort that saw him score over the 2200m at Seymour on January 3. That came in a BenchMark 64 and he was strong at the business end to score by more than three lengths from Tewkesbury. The son of Tarzino comes into this at his peak fourth up.

Race 5 No. 3  DEEP SECRET  ($3.80) 

DEEP SECRET can go close in Race 5. The Matthew Ellerton-trained galloper resumed at the track and trip on January 7 and settled handy before sticking on well for 3rd behind Hissy Fit. She will strip fitter for this and at her initial preparation, the daughter of Deep Field was an improver second up when taking out her Maiden at Seymour. She comes in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner and draws barrier 4 with Celine Gaudry to ride.

Race 8 No. 3 VAN ROY ($3.90) 

This looks to be a suitable assignment for VAN ROY. The locally-trained galloper was placed in his first three runs of his current preparation before heading to Adelaide and tackling a BenchMark 76 over the 1200m, placing 5th behind Grinzinger Prince. He led in that race before fading late in the piece. This looks slightly easier and the son of All Too Hard has gone faster than standard benchmark at his past two. He just needs to maintain that to strike here from barrier 3 with Beau Mertens to ride. He strikes at a healthy 30% for the stable, providing a 49% profit on turnover for punters.
