Morphettville Parks Tips 03/06/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 4 No. 1 STORYTELLER – ($3.10)

Ben Price retains the ride on STORYTELLER after giving him a peach over this track and trip last start. Trainer Michael Hickmott turned a few heads when producing Storyteller to score at Oakbank on debut. Ben Price allowed his mount to find his feet early before producing into the straight for a last stride victory. Storyteller had been let out in the market after inspiring little confidence from his lead-up barrier trial. Sealed the deal as a horse in the making when closing the gap late in running second to Sghirripa over 1000 metres when pinching inside runs here. Ran time and has been given a quiet trial at home since being scratched from Murray Bridge last weekend.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 No. 3 AZALY – ($4.60)

Ben Melham came over to ride AZALY for interstate trainers Ben & JD Hayes when recording a win over this track and distance. Melham gave Azaly the run of the race on the Good 4 surface. His mount was able to take the gaps as they presented into the straight before coming away from a game Silent Surrente. That mare has since streeted her rivals on deep tracks and is racing full of confidence. The Hayes team found a kill-job on a soft 6 over 2000m at Ballarat to keep Azaly ticking over with. The team comes back to Adelaide where Azaly meets Silent Surrente 2.5kgs better on an improving soft 6 track.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8 No. 3 STARSONGARI – ($5.60)

They walked up front as STARSONGARI was again a little slow to begin when resuming at Morphettville. The overall time will not look flash in any form guide and those in front were entitled to keep going. As the field bunched in preparation for the run home, Teagan Voorham had edged her filly off the fence. She was forced to come back to the inside with nothing presenting out wider. Little Starsongari finished determinedly to the line to fill a placing. We’ve been patiently waiting for racing to return to the smaller tracks on which Starsongari excels at. She’s been ticking over okay on the bigger tracks and can be in the finish with even luck for Sheriden Tomlinson after the pair finished between horses last start.
