Mount Gambier Tips 22/02/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 2 No. 6 CASSANDRA ISABEL – ($3.80)

Here we go again with CASSANDRA ISABEL. RacingBase SA punters will be familiar with this mare as we’ve backed her on numerous occasions. We like to get on early into her preps, and while she is yet to salute the judge, Cassandra Isabel has paid some handsome place dividends. She’s gone close in the provincial’s while giving us a great sight highballing along on the pace. Shane & Cassie Oxlade have given Cassandra Isabel a couple of jumpouts leading to her first go at this shorter 900 metre trip. She looks well placed in country class and we’re hoping she will also appreciate being able to kick off the dog leg at Mount Gambier.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7 No. 2 CARAK – ($7)

The money poured for CARAK before he won over this track and trip recently. Kayla Crowther took him straight to the front as soon as the gates opened with the pair fighting hard to deny Harbourmaster late. Carak has been back here twice since, including missing out to a rampant Hamslette who continues to prove the form. Eran Boyd then gave him the ride of the day as Carak returned to the winner’s list here once more. Felicity Atkinson can give the local a similar treat from the inside draw and we’re happy to stick once more.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5 No. 8 STAR JAN – ($14)

Teegan Voorham gave us a patient ride when we backed STAR JAN here three starts ago. That was out of a similar barrier over this track and trip when they were fairly flying out in front. Teegan swooped upon them as the widest into the straight for Star Jan to go on and score comfortably in track record time. Lee Creek has sent his mare out over further in two starts since, the latest behind Hamslette and Carak in a good form race. Love the space between runs to come back to the 1200 metres, and Star Jan can make her presence felt.
