Annabel Neasham saddles-up KINGDOM OF LOGRES here who is second-up and looks in the mix for a podium finish today. Last start, the Camelot gelding resumed after almost ten months off the scene and caught the eye when he came from back in the filed to arrive in time to snag third prize in a BM64 over 1400m at Kembla Grange. On straightening, he had just two behind him in the 13-strong field and still on the fence, had nowhere to go. Heavelon Van Der Hoven was the pilot that day and did a mighty job to thread his way through the field to grab that minor prize on the line. Today he faces a more suitable trip over the 1850m and has Van Der Hoven sticking with him. Already a winner when second-up, he can this a real shake today.

Race 7:  No.9  TERRA MATER

Warwick Farm visitor, TERRA MATER is second-up today and seeing the Newcastle track for the first time, looks a major player in this contest. Last start, the Wandjina mare came off a 10-week break when she took on Class 5 company and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth over 1200m at Gosford. In the big field that day, she drew the carpark and jumped from gate 16 (of 16) with Rory Hutchings in the saddle. Never on the track and too far back to be a winning chance, she still ran home well to finish fourth, beaten just 1.5 lengths on the line. Meeting similar company here, she is already a winner when second-up and has Nash Rawiller returning to steer the ship again, boasting three wins from as many rides on the four-year-old. If she can settle mid-field or better and avoids any dramas, she can get the job done today.

Race 5:  No.7  ALL TOO SNEAKY 

The Damien Lane-trained ALL TOO SNEAKY has been a punter’s delight to date and second-up today, looks set for another podium finish in this contest. Last start, the All Too Hard filly resumed off a 20-week break when she beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1200m at Gosford. Anna Roper was in pride of place that day, enjoying her sixth ride on the three-year-old as she came from mid-field to be beaten a whisker on the line. Fitter for that run, she draws ideally in gate two today where she maps to be box-seating on settling. With Anna Roper steering the ship again, the filly’s track debut looks set to be a winning one.
