BEST BET 🏆
Race 7: No.9 LA PITTRICE ($7 with Palmerbet)
The Anthony Cummings-trained LA PITTRICE has made an impressive to start to her racing career and looks right in the mix here. Last start, the three-year-old had her second race start and turned heads with her hard-hitting effort to grab victory right on the line in a Maiden Plate over 1100m at Warwick Farm. On a Soft 6 that day, Tyler Schiller had her parked just behind the speed and in the run home, swamped the leaders to grab victory in a last-stride effort. She ran her last 600m, 6 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up by 4 lengths. The step up to the 1200m looks ideal for her now and whilst taking on stronger company today, the silver-grey filly still looks the one they have to beat in an open affair here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4: No.5 STATE OF AMERICA ($4.40 with Ladbrokes)
The David Payne-trained STATE OF AMERICA drops in grade today and looks well placed to bring up win number two here. Last start, the American Pharoah gelding beat all but one home in a BM72 Hcp over the mile, on a Heavy 8 at Warwick Farm. He ploughed through the mud, covering the trip, 2.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, a new personal best and the best last-start effort here by 3 lengths. Rachel King steered him around the track that day and has the job again in this contest. Back to provincial class today, his only win came on a soft track so conditions look ideal for him. He should find this a little easier and with a trouble-free run, can get the job done here.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.4 JUST AN UPSTART ($6.50 with Palmerbet)
Mark Newnham saddles-up JUST AN UPSTART here who is third-up and looks ready to fire. Last start, the Choisir gelding was second-up and showed plenty of improvement when finishing third in a 1350m Maiden on a Heavy 9 at Wyong. Sent out the $1.90 favourite that day, he tried to lead all the way but was gunned down late by two swoopers, beaten a length on the line. Josh Parr has the reins for the first time today and from gate three, has options here with plenty of early speed around him. Fitter for two runs back, he looks a genuine player in this contest.
