Race 1: No.4 STAR TO FALL ($2.80 with Neds)
Goulburn galloper STAR TO FALL is third-up today and looks set to make her Nowra debut a winning one. Last start, the Starspangledbanner filly did well to beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1000m on a Soft 7 at Albury. Drawn wide that day, she finished strongly to grab the silver medal, running her last 600m, 2.5 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort here. The stable have put the tongue tie back on for today’s contest and Nick Heywood sticks with her after that last start run. Finally drawing a decent gate today, she maps to jump and run and now fitter for two runs back, they may have a job on their hands to run her down.

Race 3: No.3 ACCRUE ($4.20 with Ladbrokes)
The Queanbeyan-based ACCRUE found his best form recently and seeing the Nowra track for this first time today, looks in the mix to collect the major prize here. Last start, the Xtravagant gelding came off a big win in Class 2 company when he finished third on his home track in a BM58 Hcp over 1000m. The 60kgs and a Heavy 9 played a big part in his efforts that day, but he wasn’t disgraced, beaten just a length on the line. Already a two-time winner on soft tracks, conditions look more suitable today with a Soft 5 being declared. Nick Heywood has the reins for the first time here and back to the 1200m today, he looks a genuine threat to this field.
