Race 3:  No.4  SOOBOOGELISCIOUS  ($2.60 with Neds)

Third-up today, the Nick Olive-trained SOOBOOGELISCIOUS makes her Nowra debut and with a gear change on the menu, she looks in the mix for a win here. Last start, the Sooboog mare improved from her first-up effort to beat all but one home in a BM58 Hcp over 1400m at Wagga. Quayde Krogh was aboard for his fifth ride on the mare and from back in the field, worked her home to grab second prize, beaten just a length on the line. Olive slips the winkers on for the first time today as Krogh steers the ship again. From gate five, she maps to settle mid-field and already a winner when third-up, she can take out this contest today.

Race 2:  No.1  VEREEVA  $3.80 with Ladbrokes)

Brian Adams saddles-up VEREEVA here for her second race-start and fitter for her debut run, looks a serious player for the major prize in this contest. Last start, the Pluck mare made her debut, here on her home track and took home third prize in the 1100m Maiden. Shaun Guymer took her to the front on settling where she travelled well, but in the run home, the $1.60 favourite (I’m A Steel) had too many guns on the day, leaving Vereeva in a battle for second place which she only just missed out on. She has a Good 4 to race on today and Guymer sticks with her as well. Nicely drawn in gate four, she maps to lead them again and on dry ground today, we may see a different result.

Race 4:  No.4  FLIC EN FLAC  ($3 with Palmerbet)

The Maher & Eustace-trained FLIC EN FLAC is four starts into this preparation and has done everything except win but with a trouble-free run here, she can turn it all around today. Last start, the four-year-old mare found the podium for the third time in four starts this time in when she grabbed third prize in a BM65 over 2000m at Canberra. In a three-horse finish, she missed out on the winner’s cheque by long neck on the line. The stable bring her back in distance today, returning her to the mile trip where she is already a winner. Jean Van Overmeire steers the ship for the first time today and rock-hard fit after four runs back, she the galloping grey mare can give this contest a real shake.
