BEST BET 🏆

Race 5:  No.1  COOL LAD  ($4 with Bet Right)

The Matt Smith-trained COOL LAD won his maiden here 18 months ago and looks well placed here to make it two from two today. Last start, the Al Maher gelding came off a good win in BM66 company at Goulburn when he finished a close-up third at Kembla Grange in a BM68 Midway Hcp over 1200m. They clocked 1:09 for that event where he finished just half a length from the winner. He is in great touch of late, with his last three runs seeing him on the podium and from gate three today, he maps to settle just behind the speed and should prove hard to hold out from there.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.6  QUIRE  ($5.50 with Palmerbet)

The Natalie Jarvis-trained QUIRE is four starts into this preparation and should now be ready to put in her best performance today. Last start, the Bon Hoffa filly wasn’t disgraced when finishing sixth (of 13) in a Class 1 Hcp over 1200m on her home track at Moruya. Settling just behind the pace that day, she had no luck trying to secure a run and was never clear, still beaten just two lengths in the event with Billy Owen aboard. Owen sticks with her today and from gate six, she maps to be sitting just behind the pace again. With a trouble-free run today, she can dish it up to this field and take home the bacon in this contest.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4:  No.2  NEVER NEVER LAND  ($6.50 with Bet Right)

The Randwick-based galloper, NEVER NEVER LAND, returns to where it all began for another crack at the Nowra track and he looks well placed to improve on his last effort here. Last start, the Epaulette gelding didn’t handle the conditions at all when finishing fourth, beaten more than four lengths, in a Class 1 Hcp over 1350m on a Heavy 9 at Wyong. Back on top of the ground today with a Good 4 forecast for racing, the four-year-old is reunited with Rory Hutchings who has steered him to victory previously. From gate four today, he maps to settle just behind the speed and looks a genuine winning chance in this easier event.
