Race 3 No. 5 WICKED ADDICTION ($6)

Journeyman trainer Kym Healy sets for the West Coast with WICKED ADDICTION who is a proven dirt track performer. The horse has been around the mark in the provincials, including a close second placing over this trip to Gogolf Guru on his home track of Strathalbyn. Raced up on the speed over the same then did not have the speed to match the others into the straight. Wicked Addiction regained some of his better form when safely holding the rest behind smart galloper Shalaga last time out. Chance again on Friday as he gets back out to his favoured mile journey.

Race 1 No. 4 CAVALLINO ($6)

Training duo Darren Magro & Aimee Bush found a strong start to the Port Augusta racing season with a double during the opening meet. The pair will have CAVALLINO racing fitter for his tough on-speed performance over this track and trip a fortnight ago. Felicity Atkinson played follow the leader on Cavallino as Sheezahiflya set a fast tempo out in front. Cavallino put that runner to bed on turning before being set upon by the winner Toorak Blaze and also Tuff Operator. Cavallino battled gamely to take third against the pattern of the day in a race that had some depth.

Race 2 No. 1 INNER SANCTUM ($20)

Racetrack experience at Port Augusta may advantage INNER SANCTUM as the horse attempts to break his maiden at start number thirty-six. We were with Inner Sanctum a few times when he placed on the track at good odds. He has been racing okay for trainer Danny Penna and did catch the attention in a much harder race prior to the start of the Port Augusta racing season. Inner Sanctum was away okay under Stacey Metcalfe before coming back to near last from their wide gate. He has been around the placings again in both runs since despite the wide margins from the winner. Blinkers go on and Inner Sanctum can figure in the numbers again at a big price.
