Race 3:  No.4  TREIZE  

The John Sargent-trained TREIZE is high flying at the moment with a 100% strike rate for top-three finishes and looks poised to keep that trend going in this contest. Last start, the Kermadec mare tried to lead all the way but was run down late, leaving her with second prize again in a BM72 over 1350m at Rosehill. Apprentice, Molly Bourke has been with the mare for all three starts this preparation and steers the ship again today. She has the outside gate here but the small field negates any disadvantage there. At her peak today and already a winner here, she looks the one to catch again.

Race 5:  No.3  NAVAL SEAL 

His last victory was in June 2022 but the Chris Waller-trained NAVAL SEAL is now four starts back from almost a year off the scene and should be ready to fire today. Last start, he showed plenty of improvement when he beat all but one home in a BM72, here over today’s journey. He settled last in the small field and was spotting the tearaway leader some 15 lengths that day but in the run home, reduced the deficit to less than two lengths on the line. Tommy Berry is the pilot today and provided there are no ‘tearaway tactics’ applied in this event, he looks up to the task. A dual acceptor for the meeting (scratched from race one), this looks the more suitable trip for him and at his peak today, we should him at his best.

Race 7:  No.7  SIR ARTIE 

In from $9 overnight, punters have come for the Team Snowden-trained SIR ARTIE who is now in career-best form and looks up to this challenge today. Last start, the Flying Artie gelding made it win number two from his past three starts when he destroyed them in a BM64 over 1200m at Gosford. From his wide gate (9 of 10), he settled mid-field, three-deep (with cover) and took the turn as the widest runner. He made light work of the 59.5kgs as he took over inside the final 150m and raced away to win by three lengths on the line. That’s a big effort in anyone’s language. Today, he has Josh Parr in the saddle for his third ride on the four-year-old who gets all the favours from gate one. He still maps to settle mid-field but won’t have to cover the ground he did last start. Missing just one top-four finish in his six starts this campaign, he looks set to go on his winning way in this contest.
