Race 5:  No.4  TIME QUEST

The Matthew Smith-trained TIME QUEST boasts an outstanding strike rate of podium finishes with an 89% success rate and third-up today, looks in the mix to add another one to his tally. Last start, the former English galloper was never on the track (travelled three-deep with out cover) and did a mighty job to stick on and claim third prize in a BM78 over 1400m at Warwick Farm. The lightly-raced five-year-old did it tough from the outset, jumping from the outside gate (10) and being trapped wide the entire trip. That should all change today as he draws ideally in gate two and will do little to no work as he maps to settle mid-field with cover. Tom Marquand is the new pilot (with Kerrin McEvoy unavailable through injury) and the extra distance today will suit. Already a winner when third-up, he looks the testing material in this contest.

Race 7:  No.3  COUNTYOURBLESSINGS 

The John O’Shea-trained COUNTYOURBLESSINGS is high-flying with five top-two finishes from her six career starts to date and looks a serious player in this contest. Last start, the well-bred I Am Invincible filly recorded her second win in three starts this campaign when she destroyed a BM64 field over 1200m at Canterbury. With Nash Rawiller on board that day, she was slowly away (after jumping from the outside gate) and settled two lengths last of the eight runners. Rawiller gradually made up lost ground (while sticking to the fence) and swinging for home, came off the leader’s heels and left them to fight out the minors, going on to win by more than two lengths on the line. Drawn out again today, if she can repeat that effort here, the three-year-old should be collecting the cash again.

Race 6:  No.2  ABLE WILLIE

Chris Waller saddles-up ABLE WILLIE here who is second-up and ticks all the boxes that suggest he is a prime contender for the major prize today. Last start, the Written Tycoon gelding resumed off a 19-week spell when he defied all the odds to win a BM72 over 1200m at Warwick Farm. Missing the start by a length, James McDonald rode him patiently back in the field then swung the turn as the widest runner and finished over the top of them with 60kgs on his back. Despite all that, he still posted 1:09.6 for the 1200m trip. J.Mac sticks with him today where he is unbeaten in two previous runs on the Kensington track. Placed twice in three previous second-up efforts, he will take beating here.
