BEST BET 🏆
Race 6: No.5 REAL STATEMENT ($3.70 with Neds)
Promising local filly REAL STATEMENT remains in top-shelf form this time in and looks the best of the day in this contest. Last start, the Real Impact filly came off a good win here when she stepped-up to the 1200m for the first time and wasn’t disgraced when finishing second in the Three-Year-Old Hcp, here at Callaghan Park. She looked all over a winner but just weakened a little in the final 50m and was swamped by many in what ended up a blanket finish involving most of the 7-strong field. Ryan Wiggins was aboard that day but as a regular rider for the Ricky Vale stable, rides Eye Pee Oh Ready here. Apprentice Alisha Donald has her first ride on the filly today and brings with her a 3kg claim which sees the three-year-old drop 3kgs on her last run. From gate seven today, she is still expected to lead and provided she doesn’t burn too much early, she should prove hard to run down again.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.5 MERIDA’S BOW ($7.60 with BoomBet)
Local galloper MERIDA’S BOW has been in ever-consistent form and second-up today ticks enough boxes here to be considered a real winning chance here. Last start, the Golden Archer mare resumed off a five-month break when she beat all but one home in a BM60 Hcp, here over 1050m. From gate five today, she maps to allow the early pace inside her, to set the scene while she sits back behind them and enjoys the trail. Jason Taylor has been aboard for half of her career races and those eight rides have resulted in a win and four minor placings. She has found the podium in all three previous second-up appearances and is already a track and distance winner. All going well here, watch for her late in the run home.
BEST VALUE 💰 (PLACE)
Race 7: No.11 LYNRIC LASS ($8.50 with Unibet)
Let’s finish the day with something different and jump on local galloper LYNRIC LASS at many old price as a solid ‘Place’ chance today. Last start, the Top Echelon mare was second-up when she finished fifth in a BM0-55 Hcp, here over 1050m. Last on the turn, Adam Spinks went looking everywhere for clean air but only got clear inside the last 200m and while never a winning chance, still finished off well to be beaten just over two lengths in the end. She still posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for that race. Third-up today, she steps-up in distance where she is already a two-time winner at the 1200m and has Spinks sticking with her as well. Even fitter for two runs back, she is on a seven-day back up and looks great value (currently) at $8.50 (a place) fixed with Unibet.
