Race 5:  No.4  JENNI SWENESEE

Local trainer, Jared Wehlow saddles-up JENNI SWENESEE here who is second-up today and ticks enough boxes to be considered a real threat in this contest. Last start, the Sweynesse mare was having her first start for the Wehlow stable (after transferring from the Lindsay Park camp) and despite not racing for 12 weeks, still clobbered her rivals in a 1200m Maiden, here on a Heavy 8 that day. With Justin Huxtable steering the ship, she led from barrier to box, and crossed the line 2.5 lengths clear of the field. Fitter for that run, she maps to settle near the speed again from gate five with Huxtable remaining in the saddle for this assignment. With a trouble-free here, she looks the testing material again.

Race 2:  No.6  GOOD GIRL POLLY

The Team Geran-trained GOOD GIRL POLLY was impressive on debut and looks well placed here to go one better today. Last start, the Goodfella filly had her first race-start in a Two-year-Old Maiden over 1100m at Toowoomba where she beat all but one to the line with Karl Zechner in the saddle. She settled down to a two-horse battle with the $2.80 favourite (Rocky Rich) and was just nosed-out on the line. Fitter for that debut performance, Zechner sticks with her here as she gets all the favours from gate one today and is expected to be parked right behind the speed, box-seating on settling. With a clear run to the line, she looks every chance of fighting out the finish at odds again today.

Race 6:  No.3  SKYLIGHT SONG

The former Brad Widdup-trained SKYLIGHT SONG has his second run for the Jared Wehlow stable here and second-up today, looks a solid each-way chance in this contest. Last start, the Your Song gelding saw the Callaghan Park track for the first time where he lumped 61.5kgs after a nine-week let-up and after leading from barrier rise, was unable to hold off the challenges and had to settle for third prize in the 1200m event on the day. He can only strip fitter for that run as Ash Butler sticks with him for this assignment. Wehlow slaps the blinkers back on him today as he drops back in distance. He draws the outside gate and may need a little luck early as he looks for cover on settling. The long run home should give him plenty of opportunity to stake his claim and here, he looks well worth an each-way ticket today.
