Our form expert provides Rockhampton tips for today’s horse racing at Rockhampton Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 2:  No.3  PRETTY SLICK  ($3.90 with Palmerbet)

The Ricky Vale-trained PRETTY SLICK is unbeaten in two starts and back on her home track today, she will take beating. Last start, the Astern filly came off her debut win when she tackled a Class 1 Hcp over 1050m at Mackay. She box-seated to the turn, then came off heels to give them the ‘go-by’ and went on to a comfortable win in the end. She recorded the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for that race, carrying 1kg over her allotted weight. Ryan Wiggins has been at the helm for both runs and will steer the ship again today. She gets the gun-run from gate one and on home soil again, looks great value in a six-horse affair today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7:  No.5  LINGJUN TOPGUN  ($3.60 with Ladbrokes)

Local galloper LINGJUN TOPGUN is in career-best form this time in and looks well placed here for back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Charge Forward gelding came off a hat-trick of minor placings to bring up his first win for the campaign when he took out a BM0-55 Hcp, here over 1500m. He fought off all challenges that day to win the event by a narrow margin. Apprentice, Alisha Donald has her first ride on the galloper today and after her claim, he carries just a half kilo more than his last-start win. He gets the gun-run here from gate one and maps to be box-seating on settling. He has a lot going for him today and will take beating in this contest.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5:  No.7  LA FEMME DE FORTE  ($5 with Palmerbet)

Local trainer Ricky Vale saddles-up two runners here and with Police unable to salute at his past two starts (after tipping him both times), we are running with his stablemate LA FEMME DE FORTE to get the job done at the weights today. Last start, the four-year-old mare clobbered a BM0-55 field, here over 1200m. She drew wide that day (gate 9 of 11) but still managed to cross the line 1.5 lengths ahead of the 11-strong field. Ryan Wiggins returns for today’s assignment (after riding her to her Maiden win at Mackay two starts back). Formerly with the Tony Gollan stables in Brisbane, she is yet to miss a top-two finish with Vale and although up in grade here, she looks well weighted for the race and should prove hard to hold out today.
