Race 4:  No.6  SCHWARZ

The John O’Shea-trained SCHWARZ resumes off a 19-week absence here and on fresh legs, looks a big chance of taking out this contest. Last start, the Zoustar colt ended his last campaign on a high when he clobbered them in the Listed Amanda Elliott over 1400m at Flemington. With James McDonald in the saddle, he led after 200m and in the run home, kicked clear and went on to score an easy win, putting two lengths on them, eased over the line. He has trialled three times since then and lines up here, already a winner when first-up. J.Mac sticks with him for this assignment and from gate four, he maps to settle in the first half dozen. Seeing Rosehill for the first time, he looks a genuine winning chance here.

Race 3:  No.5  OSMOSE

The Waterhouse & Bott-trained OSMOSE has been in good touch recently and second-up here looks a real threat to this field. Last start, the Zoffany mare resumed off a 17-week break when she did a mighty job to beat all but one home in the Group 3 Aspiration Quality (1600m) at Randwick. Tim Clark was aboard that day for the seventh time and again, he was robbed of a win, finishing half length behind Lekvarte in the 17-strong field. Clark perseveres with the mare for this assignment with the stable removing the blinkers they fitted for her first-up run. The five-year-old faces the 1900m trip for the first time here where she nicely in gate four. She has finished on the podium in three previous second-up appearances and looks set to make it happen again in this contest.

Race 7:  No.16  MILITARIZE

Chris Waller saddles-up MILITARIZE here (after scratching him from the Rosehill Guineas) where he looks better suited and third-up, he will give this a real shake. Last start, the Dundeel colt finished off his preparation for this with a close-up second behind the classy Celestial Legend in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas over 1600m. J. Mac rode him a treat that day, only nosed out on the line. He is a three-time Group 1 winner who should be near his peak for this and from gate seven, maps to settle near mid-field with cover. Macdonald steers the ship again and with a trouble-free run, the Golden Rose winner looks set to produce his best in this contest.
