Race 7:  No.15  KAZOU  

The Chris Waller-trained KAZOU will try resuming again here (after last weeks attempt failed due to the abandonment of the last two races at Randwick) and boasting a high-flying resume, she looks the testing material in this contest. Last start, the Zoustar mare ended her short two-start campaign by finishing second behind Revolutionary Miss in a set weights Open affair over 1400m at Cranbourne, back in November last year. She has since returned to Sydney and trialled once where she jumped in front and soon after, entered her own post code and went on to win by more than eight lengths on the line (under a good hold). She has drawn wide here and will need some luck at barrier rise, but with so much upside and already a two-time winner when first-up, she will still take beating here.

Race 5:  No.9  MISS HADES 

Gary Portelli saddles-up MISS HADES here who has burst onto the scene with four wins from her six race-starts to date and second-up here looks set to go on with it in this contest. Last start, the Hellbent filly resumed off a five-month break and made it look easy when she took out a BM72 Hcp over 1200m at Gosford. Tyler Schiller rode her a treat that day. She drew the outside gate (9) and settled outside the leader. Taking control at the 200m mark, she went on with it to score by a length on the line. She draws wide again here but has Schiller sticking true and already a winner when second-up and successful at the track as well, she will still take beating.

Race 2:  No.11  EYE PEA OH

The Team Freedman-trained EYE PEA OH is second-up here and boasting a strong fresh record, looks a serious contender at odds in this contest. Last start, the Capitalist mare resumed after almost six-months off the scene when she ran a bold race, finishing a close-up fourth in a BM72 over 1100m at Canterbury. She drew wide (10 of 11), and drifted back to settle second-last, a dozen lengths off the pace. Turning for home, she could see them all and was still behind all of them approaching the 200m mark. Tommy Berry wound her up and she stormed home (virtually unnoticed) to grab that fourth prize, beaten less than a length on the line. Rachel King returns for her third ride on the mare and (currently) $9 on offer appears to be very generous and an each-way ticket looks warranted here.
