Race 6 No. 7 OUR MALYSHKA- ($3) 

OUR MALYSHKA might be worth a play at her first run back from a spell. The Luke Oliver-trained galloper has had just the once career start with that coming back in January over the 1100m at Sale. She did a couple of things wrong in the run but knuckled down well in that race to win by a length from My Name Is, who went on to score at Moonee Valley. The locally-trained galloper went 2.5 lengths slower than standard benchmark on debut and anything around that mark will see her be very competitive in this race.

Race 5 No. 3  GERALDINE’S JEWEL- ($4) 

GERALDINE’S JEWEL can get the job done in Race 5. The consistent galloper has been thereabouts in her four runs this time in, claiming a BenchMark 58 three starts ago before rising to BM64 and finishing runner-up at Yarra Valley and 5th at Sandown. Her most recent run came over the 1500m and she stuck on well to land two lengths off Vail Mountain. The Reece Goodwin-trained mare comes back to BM58 and the 3kg claim for Dakotah Keane gets her down to a winnable weight.

Race 8 No. 4 SOPHIA’S MAGIC- ($6) 

SOPHIA’S MAGIC creates a bit of interest in the final race of the day. The former Chris Waller-trained galloper has switched stables and is now trained out of Mornington by Carly Thomas. The six-year-old was solid in three of her four runs last time in. They include a 5th when resuming at Randwick in a BenchMark 72, while she closed off with a runner-up performance in a BM64 at Canterbury. That form looks good for this and the daughter of Charm Spirit comes in with a winning trial.
