BEST BET 🏆   

Race 3 No. 1 AMIGO ($2.20) 

Best Bet comes up in Race 3 and AMIGO can go on with the job after resuming with a strong win at Mornington in Maiden grade on December 28. The Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman-trained galloper settled handy that day and drove through to score from My Name Is. This is a step up but the son of Snitzel was able to mix it with some stronger horses at his last preparation, while the 1000m does look to be his go.

Race 7 No. 4  LANG PARK ($3.20) 

LANG PARK can end the day a winner. The Patrick Payne-trained galloper has had two runs this preparation, just missing out behind Joltin’ Joe when resuming at Moonee Valley before heading to Sandown and scoring ahead of Tango Jewel. The son of Flying Artie has now won three of five and went a healthy 6.3 lengths faster than standard at his latest. He has the speed to cross from the wide barrier and should be in the thick of things at the business end. 

NEXT BEST 🥈   

Race 2 No. 4  SINGLE ’N’ READY ($4.80) 

Nice return by SINGLE ’N’ READY at Flemington over the 1400m last month and the daughter of More Than Ready can go one spot better here. At Flemington, she was returning off a four-month spell and settled back before working home well to fill the exacta behind The Reluctant Star, going 0.9 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner in this race. She improved a couple of lengths on figures at her second run last time to score at Swan Hill. Blake Shinn rides and has won two of four for the stable.
