BEST BET 🏆
Race 2: No.5 SUPER STORY ($3 with Neds)
Local galloper, SUPER STORY has been in good touch of late and with a change of luck today can break through for his first win here. Last start, the Supido gelding made it a hat-trick of minor placings when he beat all but one home (again) in a 1000m Maiden at Muswellbrook. The stable have removed the blinkers and fitted visors for this contest as Mitchell Bell returns for his second ride on the four-year-old. Nicely drawn in gate four today, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen. After four starts this preparation, he should be at his peak now and looks right in the mix to break the shackles on his home track today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.2 CAPALDI ($5.50 with Ladbrokes)
The Dubbo-based CAPALDI has improved is three starts back from an eight-month lay-off and down in grade today, looks a great chance at going back-to-back here. Last start, the Savabeel gelding won third-up for the second time when he finished over the top of them in a Class 3 Hcp over 1800m at Gilgandra. Now even fitter here, the step up to the 2200m trip looks ideal for him today as he faces easier opposition. Aaron Bullock is the new pilot and from gate two, the six-year-old does no early work. He has found the podium four times (in eight starts) since crossing the Tasman (from the Team Rogerson camp) and facing an easier task here, looks the one to beat.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 4: No.3 PULL THE TAIL ($6.60 with BoomBet)
The Sue Grills-trained PULL THE TAIL has done everything but win this preparation and dropping sharply in grade today just might change all that. Last start, the Starspangledbanner mare finished second (yet again) in a Class 3 Hcp over 1200m on a Heavy 10 at Inverell. Braith Nock steers the ship today where the five-year-old is drawn wide but has good early gate speed and maps to settle near the pace today. She drops back to the 900m sprint here where she is already a winner. Making her Scone debut today, she should be at her peak after four-straight podium finishes this time in and looks good value in this line-up.
