Our form expert provides Scone tips for today’s horse racing at Scone Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 5:  No.8  NIGHT PATRA

Locally-trained by Rod Northam, NIGHT PATRA has improved with every start this preparation and fourth-up today should be ready to strike. Last start, the Bon Hoffa gelding came off two unplaced efforts when he beat all but one home in a BM58 over the mile at Tamworth. That is his pet distance and he runs over it again today. Grant Buckley has been aboard for eight of his ten career starts and steers the ship again for this assignment. He maps to settle mid-field from gate six and at peak fitness today, looks a serious player in this contest.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2:  No.8  KEITANY

Newcastle galloper, KEITANY visits Scone for the first time and third-up today, looks in the mix for a track debut win. Last start, the Toronado mare was having her second start for new trainer (Patrick Cleave) when she broke through for her maiden win at Tamworth. Caught wide at barrier rise, Ash Morgan soon after found his way across to be box-seating before the turn. Then in the run home, eased off the fence and did best to grab victory on the line in the 1000m event. Morgan sticks with the mare today and draws nicely in gate two. With a good gate and clear run to the line, she looks a strong chance for back-to-back wins today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8:  No.14  HIMORHER

Another from the Northam stable is HIMORHER who is third-up today and looks every chance of taking this contest out at good odds. Last start, the Dawn Approach mare was ridden a treat by Reece Jones when she broke through for her maiden win over 1289m on a heavy track at Muswellbrook. Parked behind the speed to the turn, Jones took full advantage of the cutaway rail and when the open spaces appeared, he drove the mare to the lead and she went on to destroy her rivals, winning by four lengths on the line. Up to Class 1 company today, Jones sticks with her as she drops 2kgs for this assignment. Out to frank that Maiden win today, she looks well worth an each-way ticket here.
